Antonio Conte: Chelsea's Premier League success was a miracle
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has insisted that his side were always going to face an uphill battle after they went on a miraculous run to win the Premier League last season.
The 48-year-old guided the Blues to Premier League success during his first in-charge thus making a major improvement on the 2015/16 season where they finished a disappointing 10th in the standings.
Chelsea have started the current campaign in indifferent form with just six wins from their opening 10 matches, and this has added pressure on Antonio Conte, who sees his job at risk prior to the international break.
In a report covered by Sky Sports News, Conte insists that he deserves more time with the west London giants after he helped them to Premier League glory against the odds.
"I have to stay with my fingers crossed. Honestly, I think I earned my time here with the win of last season," Conte told reporters in the leadup to the Manchester United game.
"Then, if it's enough? OK. If it's not enough? OK. The same. I will continue to live. Last season happened. A miracle. It was a miracle, because we had the same players that the season before finished 10th."
Chelsea host Manchester United in this evening's Premier League game at Stamford Bridge where Conte may have to secure at least a draw to save his job, as per The Times.
