Mourinho could accept De Gea's sale next summer

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho could permit the sale of goalkeeper David de Gea to Real Madrid next summer, should he receive Raphael Varane in a player-plus-cash deal.

The Spain international has been the standout performer for United in recent years, and he has already secured over 100 clean sheets for the club in all competitions.

According to Don Balon, Mourinho could sanction De Gea's move to Los Blancos next year, with the Spaniard yet to extend his current contract beyond June 2019.

However, the transfer may not be straightforward with the 54-year-old said to demand centre-back Raphael Varane in a part-exchange deal.

Varane has not had the best of starts to his La Liga season, but he is nevertheless attracting interest from Mourinho, who recruited him for Real Madrid back in 2011.

De Gea has been continuously associated with a Bernabeu move since his botched transfer in September 2015 where a faulty fax machine failed to process the necessary paperwork prior to the transfer deadline.
