Manchester United have reportedly thrown their name into the hat to sign Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin during the summer. The Spain international has failed to live up to his expectations over the past 18 months, and it is suggested that the Gunners could sell him for the right price.

Earlier this month, Serie A holders Juventus were deemed to have made initial contact with the Spaniard's representatives, but it now appears that they could face fresh competition from Jose Mourinho's side.

According to The Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils are aiming to keep up-to-date with the developments of the Spaniard's future with manager Jose Mourinho looking into a long-term replacement for Antonio Valencia at right-back.

Matteo Darmian is widely expected to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season, and Mourinho is alleged to have want a player with reasonable Premier League experience.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah is reckoned by United fans as a potential candidate to succeed Valencia in the long-run, but the manager does not seem to have a similar confidence in regards to the Netherlands international.

Bellerin presently has more than five years on his existing deal at the Emirates, and the Gunners are said to want at least £50m to sanction his exit, as per The Daily Mail.
