Real Madrid open to selling experienced midfielder to Arsenal

Real Madrid are reportedly open to selling Luka Modric to Arsenal as they seek to make room for the signing of Liverpool midfielder Emre Can in the summer.

The Croatia international is seemingly keen on a return to the English capital, and this is said to have caught the eye of Arsenal, who are likely to replace Santi Cazorla in their ranks.

According to Diario Gol, the European champions are prepared to part ways with Modric in the next transfer window as they have set their sights on pursuing Can, who could be available on a free transfer.

Can has been reluctant to extend his Reds stay beyond the summer, and it is cited that Los Blancos are aiming to ward off interest from Juventus and former club Bayern Munich in order to sign the Germany international.

Modric, who was once voted as Madrid's worst signing of the season, has transformed into an influential player over the past five-and-a-half years, helping the side to three Champions League crowns and two La Liga titles.
