Arsenal will come back for RB Leipzig midfielder - Raphael Honigstein

Emil Forsberg news

Arsenal could return for Forsberg this summer

German football journalist Raphael Honigstein has suggested that Arsenal are likely to retain their interest in RB Leipzig midfielder Emil Forsberg when the season comes to a close.

The Gunners have been regularly linked with the Sweden international, and the club are alleged to have failed with an approach during last summer's transfer window.

Speaking on the Totally Football Show podcast, Honigstein hinted that the Gunners could return for the Swede during the summer despite an average season by his standards this term.

"Emil Forsberg has been in and out of the (RB Leipzig) team with injuries, and they've really missed him a lot. He is still a guy who really wants to go to the Premier League," he said.

"He was very upset when Arsenal's offer was turned down straight away by Leipzig. I think (Arsenal) will come back in for him because he has got a lot of talent."

Forsberg, who comes from a great football family in northern Sweden, has managed just one goal and two assists in the German top-flight this season, and this is a far cry from the previous campaign, where he accumulated eight goals and 19 assists.

The 26-year-old has mostly plyed his trade in an attacking midfield position with Leipzig, and it will be interesting to see whether the Gunners retain their interest, considering they secured the signature of Henrikh Mkhitaryan in January.
