Wenger hints that Aubameyang could play on flank for Arsenal

Arsene Wenger deliberating over his attacking options

After impressing on the left wing for Arsenal against Stoke City in a 3-0 win last weekend, Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could now play more regularly in that position with the return of Alexandre Lacazette from injury now complete.

Arsenal signed Aubameyang in a club record transfer deal and the player has started his Gunners career in better goalscoring form than any other striker.

That being said, Arsene Wenger has admitted that he could now push the Gabon international striker out to the flank to accommodate French striker Alexandre Lacazette.

Lacazette's return from injury will be a welcome boost for Arsenal, who are now hoping to progress to the next round of the Europa League as they pursue victory in the tournament and subsequent qualification for the Champions League next season.

When asked if Pierre-Emerick can play on the left, Wenger commented: "I think Aubameyang played a long part of his career on the left, at St Etienne, and in the first year at Dortmund [with Lewandowski], he played on the left. After, when Lewandowski joined Bayern Munich, he played centrally."
