Cagliari starlet Nicola Barella is reportedly a target for Liverpool, with club manager Jurgen Klopp reportedly personally checking in on the player's progress. The 21-year-old is valued at around 15 million euros.

Despite Liverpool having signed Naby Keita from RB Leipzig this summer, it appears the Anfield club want to add further depth to their midfield and snap up Nicolo Barella as the club use the funds received from the sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.

There remains uncertainty over the long-term future of Emre Can at Liverpool, with the German midfielder out of contract this summer and seemingly edging closer to a move to Italian giants Juventus.

Barella has represented Italy's international youth sides at every level and first made his debut for the Sardinian side in 2014, but it was not until the 2016-17 season that Barella finally forced his way into the club's first XI on a regular basis. This year Barella has so far been a revelation in Serie A, scoring 5 goals in 25 games.
