Liverpool want Iker Casillas on a free transfer
Liverpool are reportedly keen on pursuing the signature of goalkeeper Iker Casillas at the end of the season. The Spain international is expected to be available on a Bosman once his contract with Porto concludes during the summer.
According to TMW, the Reds are plotting an attempt to sign Casillas with back-up goalkeeper Simon Mignolet likely to part ways with the club in the near future.
Mignolet is supposedly attracting interest from Newcastle United as well as several Italian clubs, and the Belgian is keen to move on rather than playing second fiddle to Loris Karius.
Meanwhile, World Cup winner Casillas is said to be keen on prolonging his stay in Europe, and he could be tempted by a switch to Anfield before calling time on his career.
Liverpool return to Champions League action tonight when they host Manchester City in the quarter-final first-leg at Anfield. The Reds have had to deal with several injury concerns prior to the encounter, and Klopp will be hoping that his side can achieve a positive result versus the Citizens.
