Japanese club Vissel Kobe to make move for Iniesta
Japanese club Vissel Kobe to make move for Iniesta
Japanese side Vissel Kobe are to make a last ditch effort to sign Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta at the end of the season. The player's contract at the Camp Nou will expire and it is widely expected that Iniesta will make a move to Asia; however it is understood that his preferred destination is currently China.
Japanese club Vissel Kobe already have Koln and Arsenal legend Lukas Podolski on their books, but want to add the immensely talented Spanish midfielder Iniesta this summer.
Chongqian Lifan are in pole position to sign Iniesta, having already opened transfer talks with representatives of the player. It is understood that the Chinese are to make a contract offer worth around $1 million a month.
The 33-year-old has yet to decide where his next move will be, but Japan appears to be an option for the player.
A Chongqian Lifan statement read: "On speculation about Iniesta’s arrival in Chongqing Lifan, the club insists it will adhere to rational investments. We will not go against the Federation’s expenditure policy nor will we distort the market. We have an in-depth cooperation between the two parties which does not mean that Iniesta will join the club as a player."
