Jack Wilshere close to new Arsenal deal?
Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is reportedly nearing an agreement over a three-year contract at the Emirates Stadium. The England international's current deal is due to expire at the end of next month.
Wilshere's future has been a topic of discussion over the past few months and recent reports had suggested that his position with the club could be decided upon the appointment of a new manager.
However, according to The Mirror, the midfielder is now prepared to bow to the club's salary package on the table and this could see him stay at the club until June 2021 with the option of an additional year.
Wilshere initially rejected a £90,000-a-week offer from the Gunners' hierarchy but the board have since upped the package to around £100,000-a-week to find a breakthrough in the negotiations.
The Englishman recently faced the disappointment of not being picked by Gareth Southgate for the World Cup finals, but he should still be content with his progress last term as he managed to stay injury free for most parts of the campaign. He managed to make 38 appearances for the Gunners.
