Nabil Fekir issues update on Liverpool transfer link

Lyon captain Nabil Fekir has stressed that he is not close to joining Liverpool despite the recent gossip of a deal being agreed between the clubs.

The 24-year-old has come off a fantastic season with 18 goals in Ligue 1 and this eventually saw Lyon finish in the Champions League positions.

Since then, there has been strong speculation of Fekir making a £62m move to Anfield, but the Frenchman has now clarified that he has no agreement in place to join the Reds.

Meanwhile, Fekir revealed that there is additional interest from several other sides and his future could be decided following the summer World Cup in Russia.

"I'm not close to Liverpool. It's true that there are discussions with several clubs. As I said, I will take the time to think," he is quoted as saying by Telefoot.

Fekir, who has previously been linked with Premier League side Arsenal, has two more years left on his existing Lyon deal. He netted 23 goals across all competitions in the recently concluded campaign.
