United could land Fred's signature by Tuesday

Manchester United are reportedly hopeful of landing the services of Fred within the next couple of days.

The Brazil international is presently in England with his national team and featured from the bench in the 2-0 win over Croatia at Anfield on Sunday.

According to M.E.N, Fred's representative will hold talks with United on Monday and the club are optimistic of scheduling a medical for the midfielder thereafter.

United are likely to pay a fee of around £52m for the Shakhtar Donetsk ace and an agreement will witness the 25-year-old put pen-to-paper on an initial four-year deal.

Regardless of Fred's arrival, Mourinho is understood to be interested in signing another midfielder this summer with Marouane Fellaini likely to leave the club on a Bosman move.

Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Paris Saint-Germain's Marco Verratti have been identified as potential options, though both are likely to cost in excess of £100m in terms of transfer fees.
