Athletic Bilbao keen on re-signing Manchester United midfielder
Athletic Bilbao are reportedly keen on re-acquiring the signature of midfielder Ander Herrera from Manchester United this summer.
The 28-year-old made 128 appearances for the Basque outfit between 2011 and 2014 before making the move to Manchester United under Louis van Gaal.
The Spain international has since racked 161 appearances for the Mancunian giants but his future with the club remains uncertain amid the arrival of Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk.
According to Spanish outlet AS, Bilbao are prepared to re-sign Herrera during this summer's transfer window and they are willing to make him the highest-paid player in their history.
Herrera managed to start in just 13 of United's 38 league games last term where he played second fiddle to the likes of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic for most of the campaign.
Presently, he is likely to face added competition from Fred and the arrival of another midfielder in the United ranks could spell his exit from Old Trafford this summer.
