Liverpool enter race for Bernd Leno

Leno on Liverpool radar

Liverpool are reportedly prepared to rival league rivals Arsenal in the race to sign German shot-stopper Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen.

The Merseyside outfit are keen on pursuing a new goalkeeper this summer but they have cooled their interest in Jan Oblak and Alisson of Atletico Madrid and Roma respectively owing to their hefty price tags.

According to German outlet Bild, the Reds are now looking into a deal for Leverkusen's Bernd Leno, who has a release clause of £22m written into his contract.

The report adds that the Reds have already made an approach for the 26-year-old, though they are likely to face competition from Arsenal, Napoli and even AS Roma.

The Giallorossi are anticipating Alisson's potential departure during the summer with Real Madrid having recently emerged as the prime candidates to sign the Brazil international.

Leno, who has been with Leverkusen for the past seven seasons, was recently left out of Germany's 23-man squad for the summer World Cup finals in Russia.
