Gundogan to sign new Manchester City deal

Manchester City are ready to start contract talks with midfielder Ilkay Gundogan after the World Cup, The Sun reports.

The Premier League champions are looking to tie down the German international with a new contract as Spanish giants Barcelona are considering a move for the former Borussia Dortmund midfielder to replace Andres Iniesta who left the club after 22 years.

Gundogan currently has two years left in his current contract, and it is likely the new deal will involve him receiving around his current £100,000 a week wage. He is currently a part of the German World Cup squad who are looking to defend the trophy they won four years ago in Brazil.

Since his move from Dortmund in 2016, he has made 40 Premier League appearances for the Citizens, bagging 7 goals and two assists. Out of his 40 appearances, 30 of them came last season as City collected a record 100 points to win the Premier League for a third time.
