Timo Werner reacts to Germany win over Sweden

Toni Kroos news

Timo Werner has said that his side 'deserved' their 2-1 win over Sweden in group F of the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The game was 1-1 until defending champions won the it in the 95th minute after Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos scored a sublime free-kick to give the Germans a much needed win.

The Germans dominated the game and despite losing defender Jerome Boateng in the second half to a red card, Joachim Low's men were able to maintain momentum and win the game.

"We deserve this," he said, Goal reports. "That could have been the turning point. After trailing 1-0, we were facing elimination. That was a bitter moment, but the fact that we kicked on from half-time and despite the red card showed belief."

The Germans will face 2002 semi-finalists South Korea in their final game, and anything besides a win could see them being eliminated from the group stage, depending on what happens in the game between Sweden and Mexico.

It is expected that the Germans will beat South Korea who have lost their first two games of the competition.
