Chelsea preparing bid for AS Roma goalkeeper

Thibaut Courtois news

Chelsea are preparing a £65m bid for AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson Ramses Becker, the Mail Online reports.

The deal is meant to replace Real Madrid target Thibaut Courtois who has made it known that he wants to move to Spain.

Madrid had wanted Brazil's number one goalkeeper, Alisson, but pulled due to Roma's high demands. Chelsea should be comfortable completing the deal for Alisson if Real Madrid can pay a good price for Courtois.

Madrid's move for Courtois could mean that they are no longer considering a move for Manchester United goalkeeper, David De Gea, who has been under fire for his performance at the ongoing World Cup in Russia.

The former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper has been blamed for some of the goals conceded in the group stage of the tournament.

It has been previously reported that he could be dropped for Spain's second round game against hosts Russia before Fernando Hierro's rubbished the claims.

United are adamant that David is not for sale and have not made a move contrary to the stance they have taken.
