Manchester United goalkeeper on the verge of permanent exit
Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone is reportedly on joining West Bromwich Albion on a permanent deal this summer.
The 25-year-old spent the previous season on loan with Aston Villa where he impressed but the Villains decided against pursuing a permanent deal for his signature amid their financial constraints.
As such, west Midlands rivals West Bromwich Albion have moved ahead in the shot-stopper's pursuit and they are prepared to finalise a deal worth £5m for the United graduate.
Johnstone has not managed to make a single appearance for United since graduating to the first-team in 2011 and it appears that his dream of playing Premier League football is likely to prolong unless the Baggies secure top-flight promotion at the first time of asking.
West Brom are yet to make any senior signing during the ongoing transfer window but they have had to sacrifice the services of former captain Jonny Evans, who joined Leicester City in a deal worth £3.5m.
