Manchester United failed with Cristiano Ronaldo approach
Manchester United are understood to have made a late attempt to sign Real Madrid star amid the concrete interest from Serie A giants Juventus.
The 33-year-old has been heavily tipped to join the Italian champions in recent days after having made his mind up to end his nine-year association with Los Blancos.
According to The Times, United are said to have enquired over the possibility of re-signing Ronaldo but there were rebuffed in their approach with concrete talks already held with the Bianconeri.
The Serie A holders have yet to announce the signing of Ronaldo but reports suggest that a deal worth £88m is likely to be finalised in the next 48 hours.
The deal would allow Los Blancos make a decent profit after having previously spent £80m to lure Ronaldo from Old Trafford and the sum is likely to be utilised to pursue a solid replacement.
Eden Hazard and Neymar have both been linked with the European champions but a deal for the former appears more likely owing to his public admiration for the Bernabeu outfit.
