Liverpool to rival Tottenham for Championship midfielder?
Liverpool are understood to have enquired over a potential deal for Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish in the current transfer window.
The Englishman was one of the standout performers for Villa en route to the Championship play-off final last term but they are now considering his sale amid a financial crisis.
According to The Mirror, Jurgen Klopp's side are prepared to rival Spurs for the Villa graduate, although the latter are leading the race for the midfielder.
The north London outfit have already made initial contact with the player's representative but they have yet to match the £30m valuation to lure Grealish from Villa Park.
Grealish missed the initial stages of the previous campaign after a kidney rupture but he managed to return in style with three goals and six assists in the space of 30 Championship outings.
Liverpool have recruited the likes of Fabinho and Naby Keita to the first-team squad this summer - with the latter arriving as part of a pre-agreement finalised last year.
