22-year-old midfielder confirms Arsenal transfer move
Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira has confirmed that he is on the cusp of joining Arsenal during the current transfer window.
The north London side have been locked in talks for the midfielder over the past few weeks and they are now set to complete the deal following Uruguay's exit from the summer World Cup.
Speaking to Telenoche, Torreira confirmed that he is headed to London straight from the global tournament and he is pleased to secure a transfer agreement with the Gunners.
"I would have been very happy to be able to return to Uruguay with my teammates, but this is a fantastic opportunity (to join Arsenal) and I do not want to waste it," Torreira told Telenoche.
Arsenal are expected to pay a fee of around £25m for the Sampdoria man and he is set to become the club's fourth signing of the summer after the likes of Lichtsteiner, Leno and Sokratis.
Aside from Torreira, the Gunners are also close to a deal for young Lorient midfielder Matteo Guendouzi with reports suggesting that he may have his medical alongside the Uruguayan today.
