Chelsea plan to beat Manchester City to Serie A midfielder
FA Cup holders Chelsea could potentially hijack Manchester City's move to sign Jorginho amid the Citizens' reluctance to match Napoli's asking price for the midfielder.
Pep Guardiola's side have been tipped to sign the Italy international throughout summer with his agent previously confirming that the midfielder has verbally agreed over a five-year contract.
Despite this, a transfer has yet to be struck between both sides with City's £35m offer coming well short of Napoli's valuation which currently stands at around £53m.
According to The Manchester Evening News, the Blues have now joined the chase for the former Verona man and they could potentially beat City to the midfielder's services.
The west London outfit are also in talks with Napoli regarding the release of manager Maurizio Sarri from his existing contract and their pursuit of Jorginho may enhance their prospects of a double deal.
Chelsea have recently begun their pre-season training with Antonio Conte still at the helm but it is unclear whether the Italian will remain in charge next season.
