Chelsea announce their first summer signing
Chelsea have wrapped up their first signing of the summer transfer window with Jorginho arriving from Napoli.
The Italy international has been reunited with manager Maurizio Sarri, who was appointed as the Blues' head coach earlier in the day.
"I am absolutely ecstatic to be here at Chelsea. It is not easy to become part of such a big team so I am very, very happy," Jorginho told the club's official website.
Jorginho had first been tipped to join Manchester City with his representative confirming that personal terms had already been finalised with his client.
However, the move fell through owing to the Citizens reluctance to match Napoli's asking price and this paved the way for Chelsea to hijack the move.
The Blues are said to have paid an initial fee of around £50m for the former Verona man with a remaining £7m expected to be finalised in the form of add-ons.
Sarri is reported to be eyeing at least four signings before the start of next season and Juventus duo Gonzalo Higuain and Daniele Rugani have recently been tipped to reunite with the 59-year-old.
