Chelsea interested in signing Lazio midfielder

Chelsea are interested in signing Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Manchester United have also been linked with a move for the Serbian whose price tag of £88m has been deemed too steep for the 2013 Premier League champions.

The 23-year-old was a part of the Serbian squad to the World Cup, putting up a good display despite the fact that his side didn't go very far in the tournament.

Chelsea are being linked with the former Genk player two days after the confirmation of Maurizio Sarri as the new boss of Chelsea.

Milinković-Savić was not in Sarri's reported list of transfer targets, but it is safe to say the midfielder has been added to it based on this report.

He made 33 Serie A appearances last season for Lazio, scoring 12 goals and providing 3 assists as they went ahead to finish the season in 5th position.

If a move is finalised, he could be the one to man Chelsea's midfield for some time to come as he is only 23 years of age.
