Raheem Sterling news

Sterling could be sold by City next summer

Manchester City could reportedly consider the exit of Raheem Sterling next summer, should he fail to agree fresh contract terms during the 2018/19 campaign.

The 23-year-old enjoyed his best-ever league season last season, contributing 23 goals and 12 assists as the Citizens cruised to the Premier League title.

Despite this, Sterling declined to sign a contract extension with City with the view of increasing his stock with England at the World Cup but the move has now typically backfired, The Mirror claims.

As the publication, Sterling may not be rewarded with improved terms on his current £170,000-a-week deal after going goalless with the Three Lions through the tournament.

It is added that the Mancunian giants are unlikely to entertain Bosman exits for any of their top players and a contract standoff may witness Sterling head through the exit door before the final year of his deal next term.

Sterling is presently on an extended vacation after participating for England at the World Cup but he is expected to report for first-team training before the league opener versus Arsenal.
