Manchester United are considering a £65m bid for England defender Harry Maguire, according to the Daily Mail.

United are looking to strengthen their defence but will have to release one of Marcos Rojo, Eric Bailly or Chris Smalling to make room for the World Cup star.

United have been linked with AC Milan's Leonardo Bonucci, but Maguire could be a more suitable choice because of his Premier League experience and exploits at the World Cup in Russia.

The 25-year-old was great at the World Cup in Russia and could be one of United's big game players if a deal can be done. However, Leicester are not planning to let go of their star defender without a fight and are willing to increase his wages to as much as £75,000 in order to make him stay.

Maguire is currently on a break after his exploits in Russia and could be back just before the start of the Premier League season. If a move is to be completed, United may have to interrupt his vacation to do it.
