Liverpool to hold talks with Besiktas over defender
Liverpool are expected to hold talks with Besiktas over the transfer of defender Domagoj Vida, according to the Daily Star.
Liverpool have already had three bids of £15.9m, £17.5m and £20m rejected for the Croatian international. The Turkish side reportedly wanted £30m for the player.
According to Turkish newspaper Milliyet, Besiktas could now accept £26.8m from the Reds for the Croatian World Cup star.
The Reds are expected to meet the Turkish side in the coming days to discuss a possible transfer for the former Dynamo Kyiv defender.
Vida was in good form for Croatia in the just concluded World Cup, helping them reach the final for the first time in history.
Jurgen Klopp is looking to strengthen his defence after that section of his team failed them in last season's UEFA Champions League final against Real Madrid, especially in the goalkeeping area.
The signing of Alisson Becker from AS Roma is a step towards correcting that, and the likely addition of Vida is a further step towards ensuring that Liverpool have a stronger defence for the 2018/2019 season.
