Valencia monitoring Mata's contract situation

Spanish side Valencia are reportedly monitoring the proceedings of midfielder Juan Mata with a view to a potential transfer at the end of the campaign.

The Spain international has already entered the final year of his contract with Manchester United and talks over an extension are yet to progress.

According to The Sun, the Mestalla outfit are keeping tabs on the Spaniard's situation and they could seek to pounce on his services on a Bosman next summer.

Mata's present £130,000-a-week wages could still prove a stumbling block for the La Liga outfit but the report suggests that the midfielder is not money-minded and may fancy an emotional comeback with Los Che.

The Spaniard has been a regular for Manchester United on the right wing since pre-season but his gametime may be reduced in the coming weeks with Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial approaching full fitness.

Mata spent four seasons with Valencia between 2007 and 2011 and during this period, he made 174 appearances whilst helping the side win the 2008 Copa del Rey crown.
