Arsenal's Reiss Nelson joins Hoffenheim on a season-long loan
Arsenal forward Reiss Nelson has signed a new long-term contract with the club before joining Hoffenheim on a season-long loan move.
Nelson made his breakthrough under ex-boss Arsene Wenger during the previous campaign and he managed 16 appearances in all competitions.
In order to aid his development, the teenager has now been allowed to make the switch to Hoffenheim on a year-long loan but before that, he has extended his Gunners contract until 2023.
"Reiss is a talented young player and we're pleased that he has signed a new contract with us," manager Unai Emery told the club's official website.
"This move to Hoffenheim will give him the chance to get regular high-level competition in the Bundesliga and is an important step in his development."
Nelson had impressed under Emery during pre-season but he could not earn any playing time once the new Premier League campaign begun.
He now has the opportunity of playing regular first-team football with Hoffenheim and could make his debut versus Freiburg this weekend.
