Manchester United, Barcelona interested in Roma sporting director

Roma sporting director Monchi has reportedly been identified as a possible target for both Manchester United and Barcelona.

Monchi only signed a four-year deal with the Serie A giants last year but he has allegedly come under pressure at the Capital outfit.

The Spaniard made the surprise decision to sanction the sales of Alisson Becker, Kevin Strootman and Radja Nainggolan this summer and this has hampered the side with just four points attained from their first three league games.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the 49-year-old's position at Stadio Olimpico is presently uncertain and this has caught the eye of both United and Barcelona.

United endured a poor transfer window where Ed Woodward could not recruit the required players under Jose Mourinho and they are said to be open to the idea of recruiting their first-ever sporting director.

On the other hand, Barcelona are planning a change in the same department with Ariedo Braida open to the prospect of joining AC Milan in the near future.
