Marcelo rules out Real Madrid departure

Real Madrid defender Marcelo has ruled out a move away from the club, contrary to earlier reports in Spain.

Earlier reports indicated that the Brazilian was keen on a move to Juventus to join friend and former Real Madrid super star Cristiano Ronaldo.

The former Fluminense player has come out to deny the reports, adding that he plans to stay at Madrid until the end.

"It's an element which is hardly worth discussing. I'm very happy at Real Madrid, it's my home and I've got many years left on my contract," Marcelo told Real Madrid TV, Goal reports.

Marcelo has had happy times with Real Madrid in recent times, especially in Europe, as they have been crowned UEFA Champions League winners in the last three seasons.

Since his move to Real Madrid in 2007, Marcelo has made 431 appearances, scoring 31 goals and assisting 63.

The 30-year-old's current contract ends in the summer of 2022, and that is well into his thirties. It remains to be seen if Real will want to keep him after that time.
