Tottenham Hotspur to move for Porto midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly planning to make an approach for Porto's Hector Herrera when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year.

The Mexico international has been with the Portuguese outfit for the past five seasons and during this period, he has attracted plenty of big-club interest.

According to Calciomercato, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen on reinforcing the midfield department in the New Year after failing to make a single signing in the transfer window just past.

It is added that Herrera, who is also on the radar of AS Roma, is the prime transfer target for the north London side as they seek to replace Mousa Dembele in the ranks.

Dembele has already entered the final year of his deal with Spurs and his ongoing contract standoff is expected to witness his exit in the January transfer window.

The Belgian is presently attracting interest from Chinese outfit Beijing Guoan, who are prepared to offer him nearly £200,000-a-week to lure him to the Far East.
