Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is willing to reject interest from Barcelona in order to sign a new contract with the club in January, The Sun reports.

The German has two years left on his current deal, and is keen to extend it in order to remain with the reigning Premier League champions.

He is also wanted by Italian side AC Milan and some German clubs back home. The club wants to keep him and they are also expecting him to stay.

According to The Sun, a club source has revealed the following: “Ilkay is happy here and the club want to keep him. There is interest in him but it is expected he will stay."

The source also said that Gundogan is happy under Pep Guardiola and enjoys it at the club and in the City as a whole.

The source further said that the club is hoping that it won't take long before a new contract is offered and signed.
