Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has revealed that he is not contemplating a departure from the club.

The Croatian was linked with a move to Inter Milan during the last summer transfer window, with his agent coming out to say that his client was willing to play in Italy at some point in his career.

Speaking after Croatia's embarrassing 6-0 UEFA Nations League loss to Spain, he said, Calciomercato writes: "Leave Real Madrid? I do not even think about it. It's the best club in the world. Why should I leave?"

Despite the loss to Spain, Modric is currently having a wonderful year. After winning a third consecutive UEFA Champions League trophy with Real Madrid in May, he went on to finish second at the FIFA World cup in Russia, receiving the Golden Ball award for being the best player at the tournament.

He has also won the UEFA Men's Player of the Year award for his performances in Europe.

Modric is expected to be in contention for the Ballon d'Or award when the ceremony takes place in a few months.
