Petr Cech drops key update on his Arsenal future
Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has said that his contract may only be extended, if he continues to perform at a high level for the north London side.
The 36-year-old has been with the Gunners since the summer of 2015 and during this period, he has managed to command a regular starting role in the Premier League.
In a report covered by Evening Standard, Cech admitted that he would like to prolong his deal beyond the current campaign but the extension could be performance-dependent.
"I'm in the last year of the contract so I guess it depends on my performances, the way I play and the way I stay fit throughout the season. Then we'll see what happens next," he said.
Cech was offered a break on Thursday night where Bernd Leno was handed his Gunners debut against Vorskla but the German could not keep a clean sheet after witnessing the opposition score two stunning goals.
Despite this, Arsenal got their Europa League campaign off on the right track with a comfortable 4-2 win and they will now shift their focus to the league game versus Everton where Cech should reclaim his position.
