Paul Merson reveals how Mourinho can prove he is more important to United than Pogba
Football pundit Paul Merson believes that Jose Mourinho can prove he is more important to Manchester United than midfielder Paul Pogba by signing Cesc Fabregas to replace him.
Mourinho and Pogba appear to be having a bad relationship with a recent video showing the pair arguing in training.
Despite the reports surrounding the pair, Mourinho still started Pogba in United's 3-1 loss to West Ham on Saturday, but replaced him in the second half.
Writing in his Daily Star column ahead of the West Ham game, he revealed the following: “Jose Mourinho is more important to Manchester United than Paul Pogba – and could prove it by bringing Cesc Fabregas in to replace him."
Merson added that Fabregas will do better than what the 2018 World Cup winner is doing at the moment, and won't be expensive.
Fabregas is currently being linked with a move away from Chelsea with Maurizio Sarri not featuring him regularly. He has only played 25 minutes for the Blues this season, a substitute appearance in the Europe League against PAOK.
AC Milan have been named as a possible destination for the former Arsenal star.
