Andreas Granqvist flattered to hear of Manchester United interest
33-year-old defender Andreas Granqvist has been linked with a move to Man Utd and the Swedish international captain has told the media in his home country that he is delighted to have been mentioned as part of a potential January deal to move to the Premier League. Granqvist was an integral part of Sweden's World Cup during the World Cup in Russia last summer.
Granqvist is in the final year of his contract with Swedish club Helsingborg.
"I know that there is a lot of interest for me. United is incredibly flattering but I have not heard anything concrete yet," Granqvist told FotbollDireckt.
It is understood that Jose Mourinho wants to shore up his defence with a move for a proven and experienced defender and that Granqvist is a cut-price and useful option for the role.
The Helsingborg defender is also wanted by a number of other teams, but the defender himself favours a move to the Premier League.
Granqvist has already had a spell in England in the past, having played for Wigan Athletic.
