West Ham United plan bid for Chelsea striker
West Ham United are reportedly planning a surprise attempt to prise away Olivier Giroud from Chelsea during the winter transfer window.
The 32-year-old only joined the Blues from Arsenal at the turn of the year and he has since been a regular feature for the club despite contributing just three goals from 20 league appearances.
At present, Giroud has only nine months remaining on his existing deal with the west London giants and The Mirror claims that this could tempt the Hammers to lodge a winter approach for his services.
The France international has recently indicated that there is a 12-month extension clause available on his current contract but it remains to be seen whether the club would take up the option.
Should this not happen, the World Cup winner could fancy a surprise switch to the Hammers, given he has previously cited his desire to stay put in the English capital.
Giroud has yet to score a goal during the ongoing campaign but he has still been a creative force upfront with four assists contributed in the English top-flight.
