Wolves to sign Joao Mario in January?
Wolves will make a move to sign Portuguese international winger Joao Mario in the January transfer window. The former West Ham player is desperate to leave current club Inter Milan.
Joao Mario, who spent last season on loan with the Hammers, is still very highly rated in his home country but has yet to have guaranteed regular first-team football with Inter and will now move elsewhere during the upcoming transfer window.
Wolves have signed multiple Portugal international players and are hopeful that they can add a further well-known player to their ranks come January.
It is understood that Inter Milan are ready to sell for a fee of around 18 million euros and that there are several teams interested; notably German club Bayer Leverkusen and Spanish side Villarreal. Joao Mario himself is said to prefer a move back to England after having an enjoyable short-term spell with the London Stadium club.
Joao Mario prefers playing on the flank but is comfortable up-front or in a central attacking midfield role, a position that he has occasionally played for his country.
