Conte fancies the United job

Former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is said to fancy the prospect of replacing Jose Mourinho at Manchester United rather than taking up the vacancy in the dugout at Real Madrid.

Conte has been out of work since being dismissed from the managerial role at Chelsea in July but he has since been linked with some of Europe's elite clubs.

Of late, the 49-year-old has been deemed the frontrunner to succeed Julen Lopetegui at the Bernabeu but according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Conte is said to favour a switch to Old Trafford instead.

Jose Mourinho's position at United has been pretty much secure despite the club's average start to the Premier League campaign but there have been suggestions that Los Blancos president Florentino Perez fancies a reunion.

Should this happen, Conte is surely expected to be among the leading contenders for the United role, given his good success during his two seasons with Chelsea where he won the Premier League and FA Cup.
