Raheem Sterling pens long-term contract with Manchester City

Sterling commits future to City until 2023

England international Raheem Sterling has ended the long-term speculation over his future by penning a fresh long-term contract with Manchester City.

Sterling's future had been a regular discussion topic in recent weeks with his previous deal scheduled to expire at the end of the ongoing campaign.

As such, he had been linked with a future move to Real Madrid but the Citizens have now managed to put an end to the speculation by committing him to a fresh deal until the summer of 2023.

Sterling has been a huge success since making the switch to the Citizens from Liverpool three years ago and he has excelled particularly under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola.

After playing a key part in the league success last term, Sterling has continued the good run of form this season with six goals and five assists coming in the space of just nine league appearances.

Sterling is a likely candidate to make the starting lineup this weekend where the Citizens host cross-town rivals Manchester United in the Premier League.
