Arsenal confident of signing Spanish midfielder before deadline

Arsenal are reportedly confident of signing midfielder Denis Suarez from Barcelona before the transfer deadline approaches on Thursday.

The north London side have been in discussions for the 25-year-old since the beginning of the month but so far, they have failed to finalise a transfer agreement.

Still, The Mirror claims that the Gunners are optimistic of landing the Spain international on an initial loan this month with the option to buy at the end of the campaign.

Suarez was initially contracted to the Blaugrana until the summer of 2020 but the club are said to have handed him a year's extension in order to preserve his transfer value for the summer.

Elsewhere, Unai Emery's side are seeking to sign Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan but the Serie A club are reluctant to discuss the deal unless the Gunners are willing to include an obligatory buy clause worth £35m to be triggered in the summer.
