Ole Gunnar Solskjaer drops fitness update on Martial, Lingard
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard have the chance of making the matchday squad for the weekend's league game against Liverpool.
Martial and Lingard suffered groin and hamstring injuries respectively in the Champions League round of 16 clash against Paris Saint-Germain and they were thereafter omitted for the FA Cup fifth round tie at Chelsea.
However, the front duo have since made positive progress with their respective setbacks and Ole has suggested that they could return to the mix depending on how they perform in training in the lead up to the game.
“I hope and think Anthony will be ready and I hope Jesse will be ready because it’s two different injuries. So maybe more hope than think, with Anthony as well, but he’s got a chance," he told MUTV.
Manchester United are currently just one point ahead of Arsenal in the race for the final Champions League spot and anything less than a win, may witness the Gunners leapfrogging them to the fourth position.
