Manchester United close to agreeing deal with Spanish midfielder
Spain international Juan Mata is reportedly close to committing his future to Manchester United by signing a new contract.
The midfielder has racked over 200 appearances during his five-year stay with the Red Devils and he now appears on course for a contract extension beyond the present season.
According to The Sun, the 30-year-old is set to be rewarded with a new two-year deal with the Red Devils with the option of an additional year if required.
Mata has been in-and-out of the starting lineup over the course of the current campaign but he has still impressed with five goals and three assists across all competitions.
He is currently on the sidelines with a groin injury picked up during the goalless Premier League draw against Liverpool and is expected to miss out on the south London trip to face Crystal Palace tomorrow.
Aside from Mata, United are also in talks over new deals for Ander Herrera and David de Gea and they are likely to find the breakthrough before the season concludes.
