David Luiz speaks on Maurizio Sarri's relationship with Chelsea players
Chelsea defender David Luiz has said that manager Maurizio Sarri continues to command the respect from the Blues players despite the unforeseen incident with Kepa Arrizabalaga in the League Cup final defeat.
Sarri was left fuming during the final stages of the added extra-time where Kepa refused to be substituted and thereafter, there were claims of player power once more hampering managerial decisions at the Blues.
However, speaking after the game, Luiz clarified that that is not the case and the head coach continues to hold the respect and power over the existing squad of players, he told Sky Sports: "The coach has the power over the group. He has our respect."
Sarri has resumed training with the squad ahead of the midweek Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur and it will be interesting to see whether Kepa makes the starting lineup for the London derby.
The Italian tactician appeared to dismiss any rift with the goalkeeper by suggesting that it was a big misunderstanding but it remains to be seen whether the club will take any action against the keeper after the humiliating incident.
