Marcos Alonso was in the PFA team of the season in the last campaign. He was rated as one of the best full backs the Premier league had. His performances attracted interest from European heavyweights Barcelona and Real Madrid. Clubs were willing to pay as much as €60 million for his services. Fast forward a year and Alonso looks a fraction of himself.

This season has been a sadder story for Marcos Alonso. He hasn't looked swift and has found it difficult to adjust to the highly demanding style of Maurizio Sarri. Recent devastating performances against Manchester City and Manchester United have forced Sarri to drop him from the starting 11. In recent games Sarri has preferred Brazilian Emerson instead of Alonso.

Alonso has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge. PSG have expressed their desire to sign Alonso. Clubs from Italy have also been linked with the Spaniard. Real Madrid might soon jump into the market for a left back as Marcelo looks to be on his way out of Real Madrid. If Marcelo joins Ronaldo at Juventus, Real Madrid will try and land Alonso.

Chelsea have been hit with a transfer ban and cannot buy any player for next 2 transfer windows, so it has to be seen if Chelsea will allow Alonso to leave knowing that they cannot buy his replacement.
