Arsenal lining up move for Manchester United star
Arsenal have reportedly identified Manchester United's Ander Herrera as a potential signing to bolster their midfield during the summer.
The 29-year-old is currently closing on his fifth season at Old Trafford, but he could thereafter leave on a free with a contract extension yet to be sorted.
This has already linked with a big-money move to Paris Saint-Germain but according to The Mail, the Gunners could offer competition to sign the Spain international.
Unai Emery's side are said to be working on a limited budget of around £45m and Herrera seems to have emerged as a cost-cut option, given he could be available of a free transfer when the season concludes.
Herrera is currently understood to demand a salary of around £150,000-a-week, and that remains within the affordable range for the Gunners, who have shown the willingness to pay big wages of late.
Herrera has made close to 200 appearances for United across all competitions. He recently featured for them in the FA Cup quarter-final defeat to Wolves following a month lay-off with a hamstring issue.
