Manchester United's hierarchy are reportedly reluctant to part ways with Alexis Sanchez when the transfer window reopens at the end of the campaign.

The Chile international has struggled to impress at United since his move from Arsenal 13 months ago, and he has netted just five goals across all competitions for the club.

According to Evening Standard, the United board are adamant that the attacker won't be sold in the summer and they are hopeful that he can rediscover his old form once he returns from his knee injury.

The same report adds that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been urged to stick with the Chilean 's services season, given the former Arsenal man provides huge commercial value to the club.

Sanchez suffered a knee injury during the Premier League clash against Southampton earlier this month, and reports have since indicated that he could make a comeback towards the backend of April.

Meanwhile, United are on the cusp of appointing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their permanent head coach and the announcement could be made by the end of the week.
