Juventus to make summer move for Toby Alderweireld
Juventus are preparing a transfer swoop for Belgium international defender Toby Alderweireld in the summer transfer window. According to reports, the Tottenham defender is available for a fee of around £25 million.
The Turin giants are ready to activate Alderweireld's minimum fee release clause, which had been inserted in to the centre-back's contract after the club and player failed to agree terms on a deal last year, leaving Spurs no option but to take up their preference to extend Alderweireld's deal.
The former Ajax and Southampton man, regarded as one of Europe's best players, is desperate to win trophies and is well aware that Spurs' hopes of winning a title this year has slipped after seeing the club fall out of the FA Cup and Premier League title race.
Interestingly, even North London rivals Arsenal are amongst the teams closely monitoring Alderweireld's situation and are preparing a move for the player if Juventus are unable to agree terms with the coveted defender.
Alderweireld has forged a sensational partnership at the heart of Tottenham's defence alongside Jan Vertonghen.
