Manchester United to make club-record move for Serie A defender
Manchester United are reportedly prepared to make a club-record move to acquire the signature of Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli this summer.
The Red Devils ended the 2018/19 league campaign on a disappointing note with the sixth spot and this is likely to trigger a spending spree ahead of next season.
According to The Mirror, the Mancunian giants have set their sights on pursuing a marquee defender in the summer and Koulibaly has been earmarked as the prime choice.
The Red Devils had failed with a £95m bid for the central defender prior to the turn of the year and reports indicate that they must now trigger the player's £110m release clause to acquire his signature.
Koulibaly has been with the Naples outfit for the past four-and-a-half seasons and during his period, he has transformed into one of the world's most reliable centre-backs.
He has previously been linked with a move to Premier League side Chelsea but the Blues are unlikely to revive their interest this summer unless they can overcome their transfer ban.
